Special guest speaker Vijay Varma will discuss the most recent breakthroughs in activity interventions to prevent Alzheimer’s disease
Over the past decade pharmaceutical interventions focused on curing Alzheimer’s disease have failed. Because of these challenges, research focus has expanded from pharmaceutical therapies to lifestyle interventions. Vijay Varma will discuss the most recent breakthroughs in activity interventions to prevent Alzheimer’s disease and how those interventions may be successful at targeting the underlying biology of why and how Alzheimer’s disease pathology develops.
Vijay Varma holds a Ph.D. in Psychiatric Epidemiology and Cognitive Aging from the Johns Hopkins University where he was a fellow at the School of Medicine Division of Cognitive Neuroscience. He additionally completed a post-doctoral fellowship in Clinical and Translational Neuroscience from the National Institute on Aging, Laboratory of Behavioral Neuroscience. He received his Master in Public Health from Johns Hopkins University and his BA from Duke University.
